this is something i've given a hell of alot of thought to myself, would it be worse to be interrogated with or without the information they want from you. i can't imagine what difference it makes for a sadist, except perhaps that getting someone to tell you something they don't know will be labour intensive at best, but for the victim its two different worlds...

you've got your secret, and its important enough to you that you got yourself in this position in the first place, but eventually, when its bad enough, theres the human weakness that is hope, just waiting to betray you. you can make it stop (or so you hope) would it be so bad to give up? ultimately, will it matter? when you've got something to give back, your own hope is the ultimate weapon against you. thats a pretty shit place to be.

but so is hopeless. somehow, you found yourself mixed up in this, and you have no idea what they want from you. you have nothing to give them, no illusion that you can gain any control over what will happen to you. literal absolute hopelessness, dark as it comes. nothing to bargine with, no way to prove your innocence.

either way, i guess you're not having the most comfortable day of your life. which is what matters.

It would be labor intensive, but that doesn't matter if you love your work!
Who cares which would be worse for the victim. That's why they are the victim!!!  :P

Yes Emma, I suppose it might matter to the victim.
But from the sadist (my) point of view, the victim is an object, not a person.
You are one of the lucky ones because you have a life beyond your victimhood!   ;)

It might seem at first that it's worse to be interrogated without the information they want, because you can't stop the pain. But then, if you think about it, you can't stop the pain anyway. I take a more extreme view of interrogation. The purpose is not just to make the subject give up all that she knows, but to take from her all that she is. Even after she talks, the interrogator will continue to work on her. The object is not just to extract information, but to physically and mentally break the subject, and this means much more than just making her talk.

In the end, it doesn't matter if she knows or not. The pain, and lack of control over it, are what really matters!

Prompted by fond memories of The Rise of Li Chang, I mention the distinction between time-sensitive information and information that is not time-sensitive.

If you have time-sensitive information, you can be desperate to try to hold out long enough.

If your information is not time-sensitive and you are being interrogated by a professional, you might as well tell him immediately, because you will eventually.

The fun part is, you know that, but the silly bitch tied to the table thinks she can resist....

Even more fun is the fact that, once she does give up the information, you can continue the torture to verify it. Or, just for the hell of it - - -

See, that's one of my problems. I never want to stop. I don't mind taking a break to eat, or to take a quick nap, but otherwise - just keep it going!

Particularly intoxicating is the notion of repeating whatever is was that made her break.

The pain that she gave up everything to make stop ...

I remember The Chair.  Back in Menu 1 (I think).

One of the first that drove me properly crazy ...

A young teenage boy for the first time asking himself that great philosophical question that troubles us all:

"Would I like to be a professional torturer in a Secret Police Force Special Unit set up to deal with hot women?  Would I retain any morality?  Would I just get on with it?  Would it be as fun as it sounds?"

To each his own. I might well go a different way with it. Torture should always include fear, especially the fear of the unknown. Obviously repetition allows for dread, since she can dread the next session. However, I want there to always be an element of the fear of the unknown. She should always live with the fear that the next session will produce something worse.

There are, of course, certain constants. Enforced nakedness, sleep deprivation, humiliation, isolation, poor diet, stress positions, and so forth, but that's not the same thing as repetition.

I also like to keep something in reserve. One thing that will strike fear into the heart of a woman, especially if she is beautiful, is the loss of her beauty. So things such as burns beyond second degree, or other disfiguring and disabling tortures can be held for later. Small privileges and comforts must be offered as well. A small ration of meat to supplement the porridge she is fed, a thin blanket against the cold dampness of her cell, or perhaps allowing her the use of a bucket instead of having to shit and piss herself and lie in it, all can be powerfully persuasive. Perhaps a few hours sleep between sessions, or limiting the next round of gang rape to her cunt instead of her already ruined and bleeding ass.  An interrogator should not be completely heartless after all. Such small kindnesses can do much to induce her cooperation with the interrogator's agenda.

If she is a soldier/aviator/intelligence agent, or some such, she may be under orders to hold out for a specified period of time, in order to allow for codes to be changed, fellow operatives extracted, or what have you.  I believe in the SAS orders are to hold out for 24 hours. (or so a veteran of that organization claimed in his memoirs.) She may also try to yield up information slowly, in the hope of retaining certain especially sensitive secrets when the torture stops. This is another reason why the interrogation will not automatically stop when she begins to talk. The fact that she yields up some information does not necessarily mean she is broken, especially if she has been trained in resistance to interrogation.
