... is that I keep having to stop writing in order to spank it. This REALLY slows the writing process down. And if I ever actually get around to writing the novels and/or novellas I have in mind, I might actually manage to rub it raw. Or off.

Yes, I'm a  :slut when it comes to my own fantasies.

Often, when I write, I do so in a coffee shop, sitting with a cup of coffee handy, and writing on a pad with a fountain pen to be typed up later. Such a venue does not lend itself to wanking. Hemingway used to write in cafes that served alcohol. But I find that alcohol does not help the writing process (It didn't help hemingway either), and in any case all the bars around here play loud music, and that isn't conducive to writing either.

Occasionally I will see one or more young women in the coffee shop who could inspire a good rape/torture story. THere was a young blonde the other night who was bewitching. Athletic figure, hooded sweatshirt, jeans with the cuffs rolled up, hair pinned up, flip flops on her feet. She had a bit of a cough, likely from being out in the chill without enough clothes on. She could be warmed up. A screwdriver or large metal spoon heated over a propane torch and applied to sensitive places would serve to drive away the chill. Or she might be heated electrically.

Might and right are not exactly the same, but after a while no one will know the difference.

No, booze is definitely not conducive to writing ... particularly not to good writing. Nor is loud music. Nor, in my case at least, is the sound of others speaking. I can't even write at the public library, much less in a bar or coffee shop.

Besides, if I'm not going to spend at least a little time spanking it, why bother writing this kind of trash??   :spankwhip

I agree;  alcohol, noise, and/or crowds are not conducive to writing.

Oddly the best inspiration I ever had for a story outline was the slight delirium I suffered from a heavy (doctor prescribed) dose of penicillin.  It took a week to clear my problem, but at the end of that week I had a complete outline ready to go.

I nearly never work from an outline. Mostly I just write down what the voices in my head keep telling me to do ...

I nearly never work from an outline. Mostly I just write down what the voices in my head keep telling me to do ...

Many writers do that, but my background is as a technical writer, so I always knew what the purpose and overall content of the documents was before starting to write them.

When I started writing fiction I started with one paragraph outline, then split it into a dozen or so sub-paragraphs.  This process was repeated until I had a viable outline for a whole story.

Then some key chapters are expanded and the main characters and locations all described.

This helps as publishers usually ask for an outline and the first three chapters before accepting a novel.

Uhhhmmmm ... I actually meant that I write down what the voices in my head keep telling me to do, not what they tell me to write ...
