I've noticed that whenever I'm writing a story, I usually go towards the prison/dungeon (depending on which century the story is set) setting, or the school one.  However, there's a new, excellent story posted by Alebeard which is set in a stately home that has made me think about how exciting it would be to have that sort of dichotomy between what is happening 'in the basement', as opposed to the normal life going on above it.

I'm wondering what others think - which settings get you going the most in your fantasy life, and which ones do you want to see in more new stories?

PS I just noticed that I'm now a Sicko, which is a much more suitable title than 'horndog'!

I voted for dungeon as it is one of my favorites but the place isn't really all that critical to me as long as I won't be interrupted by the curious by-passer ( unless she's cute ) or the cops. I always put myself in the story I'm reading - or writing.

Just think Moth, a few more posts and you can join Quix and I as sociopaths.

I said prison, because I have a special fondness for interrogation stories. But dungeon works nearly as well, and besides, the two are somewhat interchangeable. State Security has what amounts to a dungeon within the prison. They also operate brothels for certain high ranking government officials, with many of the girls being prisoners arrested for various offenses, and these have dungeons as well.

Of course, a dungeon could be built in the basement under a farmhouse, or in a barn, or inside a stately home. A high ranking government minister or oil potentate may have a dungeon in his home, or palace, and a corrupt dictator in exile, living on his stolen billions, may have some dungeon facilities as well. (And being out of power, he doubtless needs a hobby to keep him occupied.) The important thing is that a fellow needs a place to work where he won't be disturbed.

I don't much care for fantasy settings. The fantasy trappings create an obstacle to the suspension of disbelief. Yes, I know the difference between fact and fantasy, but I like my fiction and my fantasy to seem plausible. This is especially so with RPP stories. I can, in fact, enjoy reading fantasy in other contexts, it just doesn't work here. (At least not for me. If  it's your cup of tea, then by all means drink it.)

Schools...well, maybe. But I don't really care for Victorian era stuff, so I hope we aren't talking about that. Of course, State Security also has a school where it trains interrogators, and part of training involves working on actual patients, at first under supervision, and later simply under observation by the instructors.

I'm in agreement. There's something about a fantasy setting in this genre that just doesn't work for moi. Your mileage may vary, of course.

In this poll I picked "House/Home" as I like these type events to take place within both the normally perceived safety of a victim's home or within the apparent normalcy of the perpetrator's house. Although having said that, I enjoy all of the other locales (excepting Fantasy) if the storyline is well  presented. They all pretty much have their place in my imagination.

I've voted for prison, as my favourite type of story is interrogation. I especially like the fact that a girl in prison has probably been put there by the authorities, and so there is no chance of escape. As she's being strapped to the metal bed yet again, and electrodes attached to her nipples and genitals, she knows the police won't burst in and save her as they are the ones doing it.

Prison would have been my second choice for exactly that reason.  But it is what I like about school even more.  The officially sanctioned maltreatment.  I suppose my favourite is the combination of both i.e. reform school.

I don't share the distaste for fantasy though.  I wrote a story which had the devil in it.  It's on the site somewhere.  And I have read some good stories with magical or supernatural aspects to them.  Also sci-fi themed ones can sometimes be cool.

Prisons are the best.  Army barracks second.  Dungeons are third and reform school is fourth.  Just my two cents.

The home is more personal and invasive to me. I love stories about those caught off guard by intruders in their homes. Makes it even more intriguing to imagine what the aftermath of the event would be like for them, to have been violently assaulted in the privacy of your own home, amongst your own personal belongings. Love it!

I voted for Prison since it is crowded with enormous number of female prisoner of all ages and types. Of course, every strict female prison must have dungeon(s). Many dungeons, because there are many prisoners waiting to be interrogated or tortured for misbehave.

I voted for a dungeon, because I like the idea of my captor wanting to hear me scream, loving to hear me scream and not wanting to have to worry about prying eyes/ears. Although, I love the Army barracks idea. I was in the Army, and always had a fantasy that at some point in basic training the Drill Sergeant would brutally rape and torture me (It's very easy to see Drill Sergeants as particularly sadistic!) but the best part of the fantasy is the idea that he does it in front of all the male recruits. They don't get to join in (it is basic training after all, no one gets any privileges) but the would be witness to my pain and humiliation, and I would have to see not only the DS, but all of the male recruits everyday for the rest of BT. Maybe the Drill Sergeant took pictures to blackmail me with, so after graduation he forces me to let the platoon have their way with me, as their reward for making it through basic. Just some sick, twisted ideas from my sick, twisted mind.
