Soooo.... I'm taking a little trip next week, to visit a friend  :slut with a penchant for... well, a variety of twisted and perverted delights.  :a2m :shake :pd :spankwhip :kink :rape

And I want/need to take along a selection of implements, etc. I'm flying, and have done a little research around the 'net for info, but I'm wondering if there's anyone else who's traveled with various leather and shiny metal devices that would have some other advice for me.

I'm obviously not packing this stuff in my my carry-on bag, because although I really have no shame, I'm not interested in people digging through my stuff at the security check. I was thinking about packing it all in a box, and wrapping it like a present (it is, in a way...) and taping a note to the outside of it detailing what is inside.

Thoughts?

Definately a good idea not to put it in your hand luggage.  Depending on where you travel to and how strict the security is, I don't think you'd have a problem if it's in your main luggage.  Good idea to put them in a box and detail what's in the box.  Let us know how it works out!

I've worn leather wrist/ankle cuffs as jewellry before, taking them off to go through the metal detectors and then putting them back on.

They would have been fine in my luggage, and I'm sure they'll be fine in yours, but I just found the idea funny at the time.

(By the way, if you figure out a way of taking a steel spreader bar by air, let me know, because I've been looking for one for a while.  :-)  )

for anyone who's curious, there was no problem at all with my Box O Fun. As far as I'm aware, TSA didn't yardsale my suitcase, and the note I put on the outside of the box didn't seem to be disturbed.

So packing it all in checked luggage seemed to work out really well. And a great time was had by all.  :kink

I somehow missed your original post on the subject. I flew from Florida to the west coast last fall (September)with assorted whips , floggers, and sundry in my checked luggage with no problem at all. I locked the suitcase with TSA locks and had nary a problem flying to California and back from Portland OR two weeks later. Didn't even get questions.

Some years ago, I was helper/leader on an international BdSm summercamp and we had people flying in from all over the world and they never had any problems.

I suppose the only problems you'd have is if the equiptment was in your hand luggage.  Although I imagine it wouldn't really be a problem, they would just go through your hand luggage.  I doubt they would even confiscate them.  It would just be a hassle (and perhaps somewhat embarassing) explaining why you're carrying them with you.
Much easier putting everything in the suitcase to check in.

The hell with discussing toys in luggage!  I want to hear about an international BDSM summercamp!

P.S.  I think that would be an awesome name for a band.

You're welcome to. Even though I haven't been there for ages it's still a great place.

I agree with the others replies, if it's in the check in luggage it's o.k.  We met with a guy recently in Spain and he had taken an assortment of restraining gear with him in his suitcase which he checked in as hold baggage and he had no problems.

One funny (?) thing happened with us a few years back though.  A few days before we travelled we went to an adult shop in a shopping mall and bought some of those "Vibrating Egg" things.  Two plastic eggs connected with cord which are filled with vibrating beads.  I dared my wife to wear the for the flight dying to see the expressions on her face and reactions when these things started vibrating while walking around the airport and on the plane. What we didn't realise was the things inside we're tiny metal balls and set off the metal detector as she walked through.  She got taken to one side by a female security guard and sheepishly explained what she had inside and in the interests of security had to go off to a side room to let the woman see.  I stood there just trying to imagine Pam having to remove these things and show the woman.  The only sad things was having removed them she didn't want to replace them with the woman there and certainly didn't want to carry them out and onto the plane so elected to dump them in the bin.  I would have given anything to see her take them out in front of the woman.
