I do love Japanese rope bondage, it's amazing to look at.
I especially love (as shabbadew said in a previous post) when the bitch has to choose between two painful positions.
Unfortunatly, I can't do it myself, but very much love the rope work.

As the most know by now. I really love the ropes, and especially the Japanese rope work are fantastic and a big inspiration for me.
Having a girl tied up standing with spread leags over something very unpleasant - a very stiff brush, a scrubbing brush, or something similar, paced so close to her vulnerable pussy, that she just can avoid it by standing tip toe...

That actually happened to me once when my best girlfriend and I were first experimenting with BDSM.  She had me in this wonderful hogtie and my phone rings and its my older sister calling to say hi and catch up and my friend tells her... o she cant come to the phone at the moment. shes all tied up.. and i had to stifle giggles that erupted..

I did a goofy variant.  A dom friend of mine called me.  When I picked up he asked if it was a good time to talk.  I said, "Well it's not that I'M all tied up at the moment, BUT ..."  He laughed and said "Later" and I went back to the chick chained to the headboard.  Not as funny as Emma's, but I was still amused.

Quix - still pretty funny - but I agree Emma's is more classic.

Emma - Bravo!!!

I used a Danish variation of Emma's once. But the fun will disapear in the translation, just as all tied up, won't be fun in Danish.
But I once made another very amusing (at least for me) thing to my X, while she was talking in the phone with her mother. She stood comfortable bend over a table, her very short dress wasn't covering anything and as I hate panties, she wasn't wearing any. That was all to trasing a sight, so I simply took her from behind, while she was talking...

Excellent pictures and just what I needed this weekend. Can I be sure that the ladies in question are those in the IRS that are presently hounding us all for money?

I am a huge fan of kinbaku ("Shibari" is a western mistranslation of a word that simply means "bindings," not sexual bondage) as an art form, but it's always seemed to me that, as a prelude to sex at any rate, it is far too time consuming and complicated.  Better leather or metal; kinbaku can be reserved for when the top either wants to create a work of art, or simply bind the bottom for a lengthy period.

Then again, I was recently talking about this with a friend who sometimes plays the bottom in his relationship, and he told me that as far as he's concerned nothing feels as brutal as being fucked while bound with rope.  So I may need to adjust my thinking.  ;)

In any case, it's a truly beautiful art form.

When I was in Japan a few, OK quite a few, years ago I asked an acquaintance what the Japanese usually called bondage. His reply was "bondage".  I thought that was really insightful.

It has been interesting watching the S&M internet groups change the terms over the years to try and be "more Japanese". The evolution from Asanawa Shibari (decoratively tying or binding with hemp rope) to Nawa Shibari, to Shibari to Kinbaku. I get a real kick out of some of the rope groups now defining Shibari as one form of Japanese bondage and Kinbaku as another form. As for me, I like tying up  people and making it pretty and making it hurt.

I'm not a big fan of Japanese bondage simply because to my mind bondage should be about restraint and punishment, not art.  What can I say, I'm shallow.  I recently watched the Japanese movie "Flower and Snake" which did pique my artistic side. LOL.  I thought the bondage scenes in that were quite grueling and hot.  Why can't we, as Americans, band together and make movies like that?  We put a man on the moon but we can't make extreme bondage movies with good production values?  We've remade every freakin Japanese horror movie out there.  I'd love to do a remake of "Flower and Snake."  I'd call it "Vagina and Penis," because, well, I'm just not that good with metaphor.  Two questions:  Why do the Japanese have to have that little strip of cloth between a woman's legs? (I know it must have something to do with the mysteries of the Orient) and two: is the actor who played the moderator in the coliseum, you know the dude in the skirt and sailor outfit and bunny ears, is that the same guy who bites into the pepper at the start of "Iron Chef"?

If memory serves me right. It is illegal to show what is between a woman's legs in Japan. Except for manga/animé or anything depicting being attacked by demons/monsters.
