Well Violet, I guess I'm corny too. One of the two pendents I gave her was a miniature gold padlock. The other was a tiny pair of gold handcuffs.

Having been collared by Alebeard years ago, I enjoyed the ritual of 'being collared'  It was done at a ceremony with many witnesses.  I gave my consent and he placed his collar on my neck.  I also wear a ring which symbolizes this same consent all of the time which I found and requested. 

I think that 'owning' someone is an active verb so placing a collar on your property, or instructing them to do so is just as meaningful.  I don't see that it really makes any difference and is a personal choice for those involved.
